Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and This Year, it’s Personal

Over the past year, I faced a challenge that many of us fear – cancer. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in January, on the 10 year anniversary of my Dad’s passing from cancer. I am profoundly grateful that it was detected early, and with the incredible care and treatment I received (and will continue to receive), I am now cancer-free.

This journey has transformed me in ways I could never have anticipated. It has deepened my appreciation for life, strengthened my resolve, and ignited a profound desire to give back to the community that supported me through this challenging time.

With that in mind, I am launching a special initiative to support the cancer center where I received my treatment. All donations will be made to The St. Clair Foundation, where my doctors will personally allocate the funds where they are needed most to help other patients.

From now until the end of October, I will be donating 50% of all session fees booked (good for sessions scheduled beyond this fall as well!) to this incredible institution. My goal is $2000. This center was instrumental in my journey to recovery, and I want to ensure that others facing similar battles receive the same compassionate and life-saving care.

Nominate someone for a complimentary session

I am giving away one session for anyone who is about to start, is currently going through, or has completed treatments for Breast Cancer. It was something I did for myself just before my surgery (photos above) and it made me feel amazing. I would love to do that for others as well. Whether the session says, “Here we go”, shows what a fighter you are, or an “I did it!” session with your family, you deserve to be celebrated.

I also want to extend an offer of a discounted portrait session for any other fighters who want to get on my schedule asap (and if you are nominated and are selected, the session will be refunded!)

Check out these free resources!

They include vital information on self-screening for breast cancer, as well as a guide for what to say to cancer patients (As someone who has experienced cancer from both sides, I think everyone needs to read this!)

Early detection is a powerful tool in the fight against cancer, and my hope is that this resource will empower more women to take charge of their health and catch any potential issues as early as possible.

In addition to early detection, tracking of family history and genetics can be hugely beneficial. I found out only after my diagnosis that I had a much more extensive family history than I was aware of, and I also have a gene which runs in our family that greatly improves our chances of multiple cancers. Thankfully, my family members are now aware and have been tested, so they can be monitored as necessary.

Thank you for being a part of this journey with me. Your participation in this initiative means the world to me and to countless others who will benefit from the care and research made possible through your generosity.
